In 1976, while at Neese, Rex built the first magnetic tank bag, but the magnets were not strong enough to hold the bag on at speed. Therefore, the idea was shelved until 1979, when stronger magnets were found. The bags were then placed into production. During this time Rex also did some design work for Helmet House, Malcolm Smith, Rocky Cycle Distributing, Universal Equipment and several other companies. Marsee has been a name in the motorcycle industry for decades. Proof of Marsee's leadership in design is found in the Corona mounting system, and Polycarbonate map tray, which are exclusive patent pending items found on Marsee tank bags.
![]() | The Corona Mounting System Simplistic in execution, the bottom Corona is bolted to the outer ring of the motorcycle fuel cap. The upper Corona is bolted to the bottom of the tank bag. To operate simply place the upper Corona on the bottom Corona at about 8:00 push down then twist the bag to 12:00 and the 4 top magnets and the bag is secure. For 2007 the Corona tank bags will be available in 15 Liter Tour Pocket, 10 Liter Rocket Pocket, and 6 Liter Ciao Borsa configuration and is available for many BMW's, Ducati's, and Triumph motorcycles. |
| The Polycarbonate Map Tray Clearly the best visual aid ever for a tank bag! Installed on Marsee 10 Liter tank bag is an injected molded 2.0 mm polycarbonate lid to provide ultra clear transparency to maps or other items stored in the Marsee tray. Polycarbonate is noted for its impact, strength, clarity, and resistance to the forces of nature. The Marsee tray is designed to hold communication and electronic gear, maps, etc. The Marsee tray helps protect such items from the elements of nature and places such items at the finger tips of the operator. The Marsee tray has two egress ports from the bottom of the tray plus two exit ports at the front of the tray. | ![]() |
